Ashford Castle

Edward Holdings acquired the historic Ashford Castle in the Spring of 2008. Having operated as a hotel for 75 years the Castle is the flagship property of all hotels in Ireland. It's unrivalled beauty and standards of service are the benchmark other hotels seek to rival.

Built in 1228 by the Anglo Norman De Burgo family, the Castle was home to the Earls of Oranmore and Browne before passing into the ownership of the Guinness family. It was substantially remodelled and redesigned by Benjamin Lee Guinness the first Lord Ardilaun before passing on to his the family of his sibling the Earl of Iveagh. The Castle was sold by the Guinness family trust to the Irish State in the 1930s before it was opened as a hotel in 1939.

Edward Holdings plans to continue improvements in the Castle and on its 350 acre estate over the coming years resulting in a substantial boost to the local economy.
