Kirwans Lane, Galway

Kirwan's Lane remains amongst the most attractive Galway's medieval streets. Carefully and painstakingly restored by Edward Holdings in the early 1990s the laneway which fallen into disuse and decrepitude has become an idyllic spot in the heart of Galway in which to live and work.

The construction of the Kirwan's Court residences brought life back into this neglected area of the town by providing homes for the local population. Built around a courtyard and nestled in the remains of a seventeenth century nunnery, the residences are entered through the laneway and an almost hidden passageway. This draws inspiration from the Spanish influence that once permeated Galway.
